Here's another amazing item from my collection. This is a very rare example of a classic Pontiac dealer Parts Department lighted sign. 100% original as-found condition. First, the good is that it's all there and the ribbed glass is not broken or cracked whatsoever. The down side is that it the metal has extensive surface rust and a few areas with more serious rust. See pictures for details. All six metal strips have come loose and will need to be replaced. The Indian head logo and "PARTS DEPARTMENT" letters are great but there is some paint loss in the blue fill-in areas along with some crazing along the bottom. I actually opened the top cover and everything inside is intact including ballast and both bulbs. The electrical wire has been cut. The sign measures 26-1/2" long, 3-3/4" wide and 10-1/2" tall. It's heavy too. I've never attempted to restore one of these but I'm sure some/all of the parts are available or can be fabricated by someone with experience. I believe the sign was used sometime from the 30's to the 60's but I'm more of a Ford guy so I'm not sure. Regardless, it's a classic Pontiac design and finding one of these in any condition is not easy. Make sure to check out our other auctions for a wide variety of great items.
