One day I'm going to keep a set of this for myself! This is a lovely, whimsical pattern; The Old Curiosity Shop by Royal China; based on the Charles Dickens book by the same name, a Curiosity Shop is an Antiques Shop! This set was purchased from the estate of the original owner; This listing is for a place setting; 6 pieces; included is 1 dinner plates, 1 salad or bread and butter plate, 1 Coupe Bowl for soup, 1 cereal bowl, 1 cup and saucer set; all are in beautiful condition; very useable as well as collectible; vintage dinnerware from the 1950s; each piece features a different "curiosity" on it. The dinnerware was not sold as a full boxed-set that included cups, plates and bowls, but rather as individual sets of each item, such as a box of four plates, or a box of four cups, etc. They also manufactured separate serving pieces as well as advertising and decorative pieces to compliment the dinnerware. I read that occasional promotional pieces were offered and individual pieces of the dinnerware were given away with products such as laundry soap.
