VintageDollhouse Shop Artist Lot Description: This week we have one of the best professionally made artist houses we've ever seen- 'Tiny Timbers", a 1" to 1' scale dollhouse shop of a dollhouse shop! Made in the late 1980s to house a collection of very fine artist's miniatures, it really is a wonderland in minature- and no expense, apparently, was spared! The original owner had a nearly unlimited budget, and this dollhouse shop and its workshop showcases the best of the best miniaturists' work during the period- much of it qualifies as art on an impossibly small scale. Please note that this auction is just for the item or items in the first photo- the last photo shows the original 1" to 1' scale dollhouse shop and its attached workshop; we thought you would like to see the house and items as they were originally displayed! All shops and contents are up as well, in separate auctions. We just couldn't resist showing you everything as it was originally designed to be displayed! Here is what you get in this auction: We've saved the best for last! This magnificently made 2 1/4" tall x 3' wide dollhouse for a dollhouse is signed "G & M Gudgel, 1980", and it's a beauty. Made with clapboard details, a tiny farmer's porch, even a circular dormer window (just how did they make that??), this house seemed to us to be a fine example of the miniaturist's art, but such a pity it didn't open.But then... we figured out that it did- and what a surprise! It's so precisely crafted, fitting together so well, that you would never guess that the back three walls slide out to reveal an open layout waiting to be decorated. Two stories, six rooms (two are unseen in the photo), an attic, lots of doorways and windows- this is much more elaborate than a common two-room tiny house. An older, unusual and very fine example of miniature artistry at its best! No chips or cracks unless noted above, just some small pieces of miniaturist's wax on some surfaces (easily removable).
