"I am made of glass, and will not stain or discolor. I am as keen as a razor, ideal for slicing tomatoes, oranges . . . ". The original and very fragile instruction sheet that is included with this green glass knife starts out with the prior statement. It was made in the U.S.A. by DUR-X, and was distributed by the Kitchen Gadget Company in Asbury Park, NJ. I believe that it would be considered Vaseline, but cannot be sure. The knife is 8 1/4" in length, blade is approximately 1 1/4" wide, and the handle has a flower design. The blade has several very tiny chips in it, but overall this beautiful vintage slicer is in excellant condition. According to the original instructions, if the knife should become chipped, the edge can be reground. The original box is aged and worn.
