Wireless Valve Transmitters: The Design and Operation of small power apparatus. W. James 1925 An early and scarce title, one of only a handful of pre-WW2 books dealing exclusively with wireless transmission, this is a detailed and technical review of the state of the art in wireless transmitter technology in the 1920's. Published the same year as the RSGB journal RadCom was first produced (as the T&R Bulletin ), this book was a standard work for the 1920's radio amateur. It consists of 271 pages, with is illustrated with 8 plates (plus a photographic frontispiece) and 210 figures and diagrams. The introduction is by Captain P.P. Eckersley, Chief Engineer of the BBC from its inception until 1929.William James, Engineer, served with the Wireless Section of the Royal Engineers from 1915-1919, and was assistant editor on The Wireless World and Radio Review in the 1920's. During this time, the magazine published literally dozens of articles that he authored, as well as books and constructional designs under the Wireless Press imprint.This is a very good copy in the standard Wireless Press/ Illife red cloth. Some scuffs to the hinges and to the head and foot of the spine, and the back board is partly faded (see photograph 4), but the binding is still quite tight.
