VintageCopper Knitting Counter, Gauge & Ruler English * Patent Date 1930s This Knitting Recorder / Needle Gauge / Ruler is an interesting gadget. It's marked along the top "The M.P. Handy Guide for Knitting and Crochet, British Made, Reg No 813814". I think it's copper plated. It has a needle gauge at one end, a ruler on the bottom and five sliding counters to keep track of your rows, stitches and increases. The back has instructions for use as well as a clip to attach it to your pattern book. It's in good* Patent Date 1930s condition and good working order with a nice old patina. It measures 4 5/8" by 3 5/8". One is shown on p. 113 of Molly Proctor's book Needlework Tools & Accessories .
