Vintage English 'Tiger' Oak Display Stand Pie Cake Rack This listing is for an excellent English SOLID oak folding display stand, commonly called a pie or cake stand.......because "back in the day" I understand they were used for the cooling and displaying of freshly baked pies. For those of us that just aren't baking pies much, not to mention three at a time, these stands are great for displaying your favorite collections, from teapots to ironstone pitchers, to staffordshire figurines, just about anything, even in the kid's rooms for trophies and awards! And of course, when you are on a holiday baking spree, you certainly might WANT to show off your culinary skills and display your baked goods!! Rarely do I buy one of these stands, as so many are flimsy and lesser quality furniture than I like to sell, but this particular stand caught my eye with it's solid oak structure, beautiful quarter sawn oak grain, and golden oak patina. This is definitely a substantial piece, strong and sturdy, and it is in the best condition that I have found in a vintage pie/cake stand!! At it's base, the footprint is 9" x 11" and the stand is 37" tall. The long side posts are 1 ½" x ½"; the round disc shelves are ¾" thick and 8 7/8" diameter.
