Vintage Erphila COLTS HORSE Figurines Made in Germany Erphila is a mark found on Czechoslovakian and other pottery and porcelain made after 1920. This mark was used on items imported by Ebeling & Reuss, Philadelphia, a giftware firm that is still operating in Pennsylvania. The mark is a combination of the letters E and R (Ebeling & Reuss) and the first letters of the city, Phila(delphia). Many whimsical figural pitchers and creamers, figurines, platters, and other giftwares carry this mark. This is a beautiful pair of colts made in Germany for Erphila. One colt is grazing in the grass, and the other is looking alertly at something interesting. They are made of off-white smooth glazed porcelain/pottery. They are in excellent condition with no chips, breaks or repairs, but age has given both pieces crazing which you can see clearly in the photos. The grazing foal has what looks like a factory made bubble pop on the base and a dark mark on this right hind foot - see photo. Otherwise they are wonderful. The grazing horse is just under 4.5" tall at the rump and about the same long. The other horse is about 6" tall with about 4" length of the base. These horse figurines come from a smoke-free environment. Our pictures are part of the description. What you see is what you get. If you see something in the photos, consider it described. read more
