Up for sale is a Fender 10 string Pedal Steel Guitar. I bought this used about 25 years ago, from some "old guy", funny... now, I'm his age... Maybe not so funny.Anyway, I was hoping to learn how to play, but I never really figured it out. I learned a few things, but I think I'll stick to jazz guitar and 5 string bass for my hobby... But, I do have a lot more respect for pedal steel players after giving this a try ! Anyway, it's taking up room, and I'm not using it, so I'd like to sell it. I really dont have any idea what it's worth, so I'll start out the bidding for less than what I paid for it 25 years ago ! There are not a lot of these that pass through ebay's auctions, so for me it's hard to set a value... I believe it was manufactured in the 1960's, the serial number is 1226, the number is on the maple wood inside the body, and also on the metal endplate as you can see in the pictures (so, the serial numbers match). Fender manufactured pedal steel guitars from the 1950's through 1981, I believe. This may have been made by Sho-Bud, I can't really find any definitive info on that.Everything on the guitar is original, as far as I can tell.I think this is a student model, although there is no model number on it. Having 10 strings is pretty important, that allows for the current modern tuning for everything you hear on the radio these days that has a pedal steel guitar. From what I understand, the 8 string pedal steels can't tune this way, so if you are starting out, I'd derfinately recommend a 10 string to start - thats what folks have told me, anyway. 3 pedals is plenty to get you going, along with the single knee lever.As far as I can tell, everything on this guitar works just fine. I cleaned it up, put some oil on the rollers and the pedal mechanisms. But, it definately needs new strings.I do know that the pickup and the audio output is absolutely great - this thing sounds like everything you have ever heard a pedal steel do on the radio, especially with a little reverb applied. The plastic tuners, the 3 pedals, the knee lever, and all of the 10 tuning keys seem to work OK, I don't have a problem with it staying in tune (maybe just a problem with me playing in tune...) ;>) It comes in the original case, which is in good shape and holds all of the pieces when the guitar is broken down (4 legs, guitar body, 3 cables from pedals to body, and the 3 pedals mounted to the front metal piece). There are 4 original legs in 3 styles, 2 that are the same - for the front and allow the pedals to attach, 1 is for the rear and is fixed length, and 1 is for the rear and has an adjustment that allows you to make sure it doesn't rock on uneven surfaces.Anyway, as I've said, I don't know much about this, nor how it really works. If you have specific questions, please ask and I will do my best to get you an answer, or more photos, etc... Also, if you know anything about this instrument, please feel free to email me, and I'll put it on the auction site to help everyone else out. If it was a Strat or a Les Paul it would be much easier for me to describe or determine a value, but I'm pretty clueless about this item.I will pack and wrap all of the parts securly in the case, and then put the case into a cardboard box for shipping, so it should arrive in great shape.I try to be very responsible when it comes to the descriptions in this listing, so please ask me to clarify anything that you are not sure of.
