Kankakee IL. Fire Department vintage Helmet with Shield #5 Up for auction is a vintage Firefighting Helmet from the Kankakee, IL Fire Department. We know that the helmet is at least as old as 9-2-1972 as this date along with the Firefighter's initials, R.H.C are written inside the helmet. The helmet is in good condition and the shield is in ok condition. Some of the red ink has worn off, most likely from use by the firefighter. The chin strap is leather. The helmet has the original manufacturers sticker inside. It is made by M-S-A TopGard. The size is 6 3/8 thru 8". The patent is dated 1949, 1962, 1963 if that is any indication of age. Have a piece of history and patriotism in your collection. Remember our Firefighters! We are a local sawmill that specializes in custom milling, quality hardwoods and softwoods.
