SIGNED 10 PLANT NAVAJO RUG & TEXTILE DYE CHART This is a nice Navajo Dye Chart by VERA LEE. Dye charts display samples of plants that are the source for the colors of vegetable/plant dyes used to dye wool for Navajo weavings, rugs and textiles. The samples in dye charts can be different depending on the time of year the samples are harvested. This dye chart has 10 samples surrounding a small rug on a loom with yarn running from the rug to the sample used to dye it. The dyes in the display are: Globemallow, Sumac Berries, Red Onion Skin, Canyaigre DockRroot, Gamble Oak Bark, Yellow Onion Skin, Brigham Tea, Purple Larkspur, Small Snake Weed, and Sage Brush. The samples are displayed on wool. The names on the paper labels of each sample looks like it was typed on a manual typewriter. The wooden frame is in good condition with a few small dents and one very small “divot”. It is under glass. Overall size is 10x12 inches---- a nice display size.On the back is written in pen, “Vera Lee---- Navajo Dye Chart”. There is also a business card which reads Yosemite Trading Company and the price paid. It also has a wire and ready to hang! This chart is in very good condition. It is attractive and interesting.
