'Something French' I find all my Vintage Treasures from village Brocantes and Vide-Greniers in and around the Loire Valley, and also from my visits to the Paris flea markets. Vintage French Religious Blue Velvet Benetier Crucifix/Cross Jesus This is a lovely old French benetier - it lies on a blue velvet cross which has soft curved edges. The crucifix has filigree mountings to hold it safely onto the velvet, these are highly decorated with scrolls, acanthus leaves and tiny flowers. In the centre of the crucifix is a beautifully decorated square with fleur des lys corners. The metal font to hold the holy water is beautifully ornate - it has more acanthus leaves trailing up the sides which are adorned with petite dots. There is a ring on the reverse for hanging with the maker's initials - M.R. Paris.It's a very time-worn treasure and musty-dusty, and the top mounting has a tiny crack (see last photo) - it would benefit from a clean, or the velvet could be replaced. Approx. size: 30cm x 16cm (12" x 6.25"). Most of my items are vintage or antique so due to their age they may have imperfections, some may have lots! So, I try to give full, honest descriptions of any imperfections, and also show any imperfections in the photographs of the items.
