Estate Sale Find. Vintage USN, Navy, brown leather flight jacket. Label reads Bureau of Aeronautics USN, Flight Jacket, Intermediate, G1, Specification No. MIL-L-7823(AER), L.W. Foster Sportswear Co., Inc., Contract No. 0A-36-243-3M(CTM)2134, Size 42. From what I have been able to learn, this Jacket is from the 1950's era, I think. The Leather on this is in wonderful condition, very supple and shiny. The knit cuffs and waist band do need to be repaired, but I think it can be fixed and ready to wear very easily (see photo). Metal Talon zipper works well, Buttons on pockets and under collar appear to be original. T is some minor wear on the fur like collar, mostly some loss at point on collar. One of the little metal rings for the vent holes under the arm is coming loose, the rest are fine. The inside lining has torn a bit at the collar, but otherwise seems intact. Not surprising that t is some wear on this as it was a used item and is probably 50 plus years old. I have recieved some inquiries so I wanted to be very clear on this item. Please note that I don't know if the collar is real fur - it feels kind of wooly to me and since I am not a "fur" person, I have no knowledge to ascertain what it is. Also the knit waist band and wrist bands do need to be repaired - they are stretched out and have some loss of fabric. T are needle
