Up for auction is a wonderful old large Porcelain and Bronze Letter "W" advertising Sign. Was purchased over 40 years ago out of a closed 1930's Texaco Road Side Station. I don't know anything about this vintage letter. Just wanted to add it to my collection of porcelain individual letters and signs. Has always been one of my favorites. Measures 12" high x 14 1/2" wide on top. It is 4 3/4" wide on the bottom. Top bronze measures 3/8" thick and the sides measures 7/16". Condition is very good. No breaks or repairs. Both sides show some chips in the porcelain. The front red is bright and shiny but shows some discoloration from age. The backside is bright and shiny and shows an area of chips and scrapes. The bronze shows through very clearly in the larger chipped spot in (Picture #5). The bronze overall surface on sides and edges show no cracks, breaks or damage. This letter W has never been cleaned. Has all of its Original Bronze Patina. There are 5 mounting holes on the back. They don't go through to the front side. Please see all pictures and ask any questions This heavy letter weighs 3 pounds alone without box or packing. Will make for a nice addition to any Gas & Oil Collection or Vintage Letter Sign Display. Thanks for viewing my auctions.
