Authentic "RARE" vintage 1976 Glass Mood Ring. SILVER TONE. SIZE (5) Complete With Mood Chart in Plastic.This Rare vintage Glass Mood Ring (1976) is in its unopened original plastic, complete with mood chart. I found these rings tucked away in a box unopened for 30 years.. Authentic Vintage (LOVE) Mood Ring comes with a (LOVE) chart. This ring is the real deal made back in the 1976. This ring, still in the original package, comes with the original mood chart. The mood ring was created in the 1970s by Josh Reynolds and Maris Ambats and was used to communicate the current emotional state of the wearer based on the temperature of their skin. Accidentally discovered by jeweler Marvin Wernick in the late 1960's. These mood rings , which are encased in a stone made of quartz or clear glass, contain a flat strip of thermo-tropic liquid crystals that are believed to change color dependent on the mood or the emotional state of the subject wearing the ring. Wernick discovered the process when he went on an emergency call with a friend of his who happened to be a doctor. The doctor used a strip of thermo-tropic material on a young boy’s forehead to check his temperature and gave Wernick the idea for the mood ring.
