Offered for auction is a twisted skein of vintage gold metallic tinsel thread. I estimate there is somewhere in the vicinity of 70 yards in this skein, probably more. The tinsel is fine, about 2mm, (.08 of an inch if my math is correct) made up of 3 finer metallic threads that cover a black or dark brown core thread, and then are twisted together. I believe this strand can be separated into three finer threads, just like cotton embroidery floss, if a very fine thread is needed. The gold is of a medium color and a little more vintage looking. It does not appear to have much, if any, patina. The skein is tied at the top and bottom with the original green thread to keep the strands from tangling. This is old store stock and in excellent condition, from Europe, probably either France or Germany. I sell only within the United States, and payment is appreciated within three days of auction close.
