As an old drummer I get real excited when I find something like this! Very nice 1970's Gretsch snare drum with a stand in it's original case. The octagon badge with the phrase " That Great Gretsch Sound" was only used from 1972 -1979. The silver sealer inside the 6 ply shell verifies this was made in Brooklyn. If you have ever tried to track down a model or serial number on a drum you no doubt learned that drum companies were not too good at keeping records or even making sense of their systems. However I did learn that sometime in the mid 70's Gretsch started using a magic marker to cover up the Lifetime Shell Guarantee on their labels to avoid the chance of being sued and eventually started cutting the labels short. Everything on this drum is original. The snares are stamped Gretsch Responso. Two of the wire strands are missing. The red sparkle shell is in great condition and the chrome hoops have some minor rubs but no rust or oxidation. The key is original and has a holder installed on the side of the drum for quick easy access. Good old Gretsch innovation! The case is nothing to brag about but it is original. It will serve as a safe way to package the drum for shipping. It needs a bit of stitching and the chrome is rusted. I think they should stay together after all these years. Shipping weight will be 17 pounds. Just a fabulous read more
