is what I believe is a Gripoix Baroque Pearl necklace. It has a tag on it with a printed "Made In France" and handwritten, "Gripoix". On the back I think it's marked with 6g66, I don't think it's 69.66 or a 99.69, as t's no dollar sign or period denoting money. So the best I can figure out is that it's an old inventory number. It measures approx. 34 ½" long when opened and laid straight. It has a barrel screw clasp with little rhinestones around it, which are all still t In all, I counted 50 pearls and they seem to be in pretty good shape. I'm not going to include the history of Gripoix and the process of how they made their pearls (baroque pearls?), it's readily available if you google Gripoix.Now, I'd like to tell you the story behind this necklace. During the 40's, 50's and 60's, my Grandmother worked at The Marshall Field Store in downtown Chicago. Back then employees were able to buy a box of "junk jewelry" for 25 cents. It was broken jewelry, discontinued, one earring gone from a pair, etc. (What a deal). So, after she died, I was given one of the "boxes" that was still lying around. This was in the early 80's. I had my kids use some of the jewelry for crafts (like my grandmother did with me when I was young) and I kept moving this plastic bag full of pearls out of the box and never really paid attention. Then one day I looked read more
