Welcome Fellow Vintage and Antique Hallowe'en Enthusiasts! Many of you know us as long-time vintage Halloween collectors. We have once again decided to share one of the more SPOOKtacular pieces from our extensive collection! This is a fabulous AUTHENTIC vintage black papier mache or pulp paper cat Jack o' Lantern, ca. 1930s or 1940s in all ORIGINAL, EXCELLENT condition. No BONES about it, this is the cat lantern to DIE for! This piece measures 6 ½" wide x 5 ¼" high (without the handle) x 5" deep. With the handle it is 8" high. This fabulous piece of EARLY Hallowe'en not only has its original paper insert in wonderful condition, but it retains its original wire bale handle as well! It appears as though this lantern has never seen a burning candle. It has NO wax in the bottom, NO burn marks, and NO large hole in the bottom which was sometimes made to hold a candle. Some people consider vintage cat or pumpkin jack o' lanterns such as this to be antique candy containers, but they were actually lanterns and--believe it or not--lit with a candle! The paint is ALL ORIGINAL. We see no touch-ups whatsoever. As is typical for a lantern of this age, t is some VERY slight scuffing around the rim and bottom, at both seams, and w the handle goes into the pulp.
