1. BUENILUM HAMMERED ALUMINUM SERVING TRAY GRAPES large 2. Vintage Hammered Aluminum round tray by Cromwell. 3. Hammered Aluminum Casserole Caddy Dish, Rodney Kent #461 Buenilum Hammered Aluminum Serving Tray, Grapes, large, with applied twisted loop handles. Overall the tray measures 18" (13-1/2âe flat) x 8-1/4âe x 1-3/4âe tall with grapes impression stamped in center. Bottom of tray is marked Buenilum and carries the castle and BW Buenilum logo. The BW stands for Frederick Buehner-Wanner, whose company produced aluminum products under the Buenilum name from the 1930's through the 1950's. Collectibles: Metalware: Buenilum, Hammered Aluminum Distinctive and detailed - this piece has the Buenilum mark. The mark has a castle and "B.W. Buenilum" on the bottom. The castle turret mark flanked by the initials B and W can be found on aluminum trays, serving pieces, accessories and other housewares made from the 1930s through the 1950s. Buenilum is a trade name used on serving pieces with incised designs made by Buehner-Wanner Company of Norwalk , Connecticut . Beautiful vintage aluminumware made by BW, (Frederick Buehner Wanner), called Buenilum Aluminum. This was likely made during the hammered & decorative aluminum period, c:1930's-1950's. BW sold to Pfaltzgraff in 1969, and BW closed altogether in 1973. This tray shows normal wear consistent with its age, but no actual damage. Buenilum is a trade name coined in 1933 by Frederic Buehner. Buehner was an artist who immigrated to New York from Germany about 1930. The word âeoeBuenilumâe is a combination of the words âeoe Buehnerâe and âeoealuminum.âe. Buehnerâe(tm)s company, Buehner-Warner, became affiliated with Pfaltzgraff. The company made aluminum, stainless steel and vitreous porcelain giftware until the 1970s. Frederic Buehner(1908-1971) German metalsmith Frederic Buehner studied at the Deutscher Werkbund with modernist icons Kem Weber and Walter Von Nessen under Bruno Paul. In 1929 he immigrated to the United States , w he developed a formula for aluminum to be used in decorative and food service items. He registered the trademark for his aluminum-ware under the name Buenilum in 1933. His company, Buehner-Warner, was sold in 1969 to Pfaltzgraff w his production of aluminum, stainless steel and porcelain gift wares continued until the division closed its doors in 1979. Buenilum; Frederic Buehner-Warner: Buehner studied with Kem Weber and Walter von Nessen under Bruno Paul at The Deutscher Werkbund Germany . The Deutscher Werkbund (German Work Federation) was a German association of architects, designers and industrialists, an important precursor to the Bauhaus. It was founded in 1907 in Munich . Frederic Buehner immigrated to the United States in 1929. In 1933 he registered "Buenilum" which is the mark on the bottom. 2. Vintage Hammered Aluminum round tray by Cromwell. This is a vintage hammered aluminum round tray by Cromwell; with the leaf handles. The tray has the Cromwell mark on the bottom. This tray is in pretty nice condition. It has beautiful decorations of flowers and fruit in the middle of the tray. The tray measures approximately 18" at the handles and about 1/2" deep.
