Beautiful vintage hand painted vase. It is 5 1/2 inches and 3 inches across the top. The painting is done well. T is some paint accent around the eye and wing to give an appearance of 3 dimensions. T was a gold ring around the top lip, but most has worn off. Other wise it is in perfect condition. It is not signed. I would guess age is between 1940 and 1950. Because of the white heron t is a slight oriental or Asian air about it but not dominant. Very nice piece. The picture of the back of the vase is lighter because of my flash. The vase is a very nice yellow. Thanks for looking and happy shopping. The vase probably dates back to the mid 1800's. In reviewing previously sold items on Ebay I discovered an oil lamp with a base like this vase with a pink rather than yellow background. The lamp had registration dates between 1843 and 1860. I believe this is a Smith Brothers Vase. Manufactured in late 1800s in New Bedford Massachusetts at the Smith Brothers Shop. Smith Brothers glass was made after 1878. Alfred and Harry Smith had worked for Mt. Washington Glass Company in New Bedford for seven years before going into their own shop. They made many pieces with enamel decorations. It depicts an enamel crane and soft yellow background with enamel reeds and leaves
