Beautiful and very old biscuit or cookie jar. The lid of the jar is brass. The handle and the rim around the jar are both metal but I don't think they are brass as well. The jar is pottery/ceramic with a beautiful floral design that is hand painted. The colors are bright and clear. Lime green, brown, aqua, soft blue, etc. T is no makers mark on the bottom of this jar, only the numbers "9524" in very faint paint. The lid is covered with a floral design that has been pressed into the brass. The knob on the top of the lid is very ornate. It is approx 5 3/4" tall (without the knob) and about 5 1/2" at its widest point. It is very old and does have some crazing but no breaks or chips. Very nice piece.
