Original Mid-Century Butterfly ChairLEATHER Cover An original vintage HARDOY Butterfly Chair LEATHER cover. The Hardoy Chair was designed by Hardoy-Kurchen in 1938 for Knoll. This auction is for the leather cover only, not the iron frame. The color is an appealing and unusual deep maroon, more on the brown than red side but with a definite reddish cast. The leather is top grain hide and quite thick, with a beautiful, rich patina. This is an original mid-century cover which was used with one of the early iron chair frames. It has normal signs of use and the shape has conformed to the chair from use. T are some very light surface scratches, all really negligible, and a couple of tiny drops of oil paint (pinhead size). All stitching is secure; no stitches are loose or missing; t is no seam separation. The chair cover is constructed in halves rather than quarters, with the horizontal seam double stitched and extremely secure. All four pockets (which slip onto the chair frame) are equally secure, as is the leather piping. This cover will last for many more years and is unlikely to need repair for a very long time. The cover measures approximately 32" across the bottom and 35" across the top. Please see photos for very accurate representation of this item and feel free to email with any additional questions.
