This auction is for a Vintage Antique Henry Disston & Sons Philada D-8 wood handle rip/cross cut saw with a thumbhole. It has writing on the blade that I tried to get photos of but it was hard to get pictures. What I can read on the logo appears to say "Established 1840 Henry Disston & Sons Pat June 23rd 1874 Philadelphia USA Pat Office D8" There is also some writing that says something like..."For...fine...utility...this....(then it has) Henry Disston signature. Its all in cursive. It has a round brass medallion nameplate that says "H. Disston & Sons Philada". The handle is made from what appears to be possibly Oak wood. It measures approximately 31" inches from the end of the saw blade to the end of the handle. The blade itself measures approximately 28" inches. The small end of the blade is just under 3" inches wide at the end. All the teeth on the blade are in tact and in good shape except for maybe 2-3 that are VERY SLIGHTLY** BENT. The blade is still almost as perfectly straight as the day it was bought and doesnt appear to be bent at all. There is some surface rust on the blade, (please see photos to decide for yourself what condition the blade is in). All screws and the medallion are all still intact and very solid! There is a number on the blade that says either 6 or 9 depending on how you read it (I believe there are 6 read more
