JACKSON REPELS BRITISH AT NEW ORLEANS 1815, ~40 gram (1.4 ounce) solid Sterling silver medal, from the First Edition History of the United States Volume One Medals Collection minted by the Franklin Mint in 1968. This auction is for one sterling silver art medal from the First Edition History of the United States Volume One Medals Collection issued to commemorate the United States' first 100 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Each medal recalls a different year by depicting the "event of the year" which was selected with the aid of an advisory board composed of experts of American history. It is stamped "STERLING" on its edge and measures approximately 44mm (1-3/4") in diameter. There is tremendous value in the silver alone. But the value of this superb vintage art medal is more than just the silver, it is a beautiful frosty sterling silver proof from a limited edition collection issued by the Franklin Mint over 45 years ago.
