From Gladiateur to Persimmon by Sydenham Dixon printed 1901 cloth bound. Turf Memories of Thirty Years.We only found this book a couple of days ago in a cupboard, unfortunately it is badly damaged.The book has come away from the spine but not completely. The cloth cover is torn at the top and the gold writing on the spine stating the title and author is badly faded as is the picture on the front depicting jockey on horse with crowd in the background. All the pages are there, although pages 142-143 and 298-299 were never separated(cut) and therefore have never been read. Pages 305-307 have become detached from the rest of the book as has the colour illustration and tissue paper separating from next page of Persimmon (John Watts Up). The tissue paper separating the colour illustration of Gladiateur from the title page has separated from the pages but is still there. There is signs of what I think is water damage from about page 240 onwards. I have tried to describe all the damage and show pictures where possible. I believe this is possibly quite a rare book now and although badly damaged maybe it could be restored if not too badly damaged. I believe the starting price for this book of 111 years old is reasonable.
