Th is is a very nice, relatively rare example of one of the most elaborate bike speedometer designs that Huret ever made for themselves: a round design with a dual-scale dial, stamped gold numbering, chrome trim, a black crinkle-finish texture coating, and an optional, removable black rubber lens shroud. A barely-legible datestamp on the upper right of the back case shows that it was made on the 12th week of 1980.This design was mostly found on mopeds, but this example is configured for a bicycle. It is actually the same unit as that of the Schwinn Approved speedometer 08 430 or the Sting-Ray speedometer 08 431 (complete with the same mounting bracket), but this version was made by Huret for their own brand, with a unique black dial and pointer design, plus an optional black rubber lens shroud. When originally found, it had seized up after 36 years, but it has now had a full cleaning and rebuild, and is in full working order. It's compatible with the same drive hubs and drive cables used on all the other Huret-made Schwinn Approved or Sting-Ray speedometers.
