This beautiful butter dish was designed over 50 years ago to hold a quarter pound stick of butter (or margarine if you are watching your cholesterol). It is in the Harvest Blue carnival glass color with the grape and leaf pattern made in the 1950's by the Indiana Glass Company. The lid features a cluster of grapes for the finial/handle. This handle is surrounded by grapes on the narrow top sides and a grape leaf on the wider top sides. The sides of the lid are ribbed. The bottom features scalloped edges with a grape vines trailing throughout. The dimensions of the butter dish are: 4"W, 4" H (at the top of the finial), and 8"L.There are no issues with this beautiful piece that I see. There are a few places where the glass is somewhat wavy in appearance due to manufacturing process. Those are found in glass items of the period. There are no chips or cracks that I can see any where on the piece. Please check out the photos to see the gorgeous colors and pristine condition of this butter dish. I obtained this item from a lady who had been collecting since the late 1960's and it looks as though it has never been used. It would make a gorgeous addition to a holiday dinner table setting or a gift for a collector.Posted with eBay Mobile
