Vintage old 1940's Light Switch by Walsall WOW! The photographs just do not do this justice! It looks far better in the flesh!The 'WALSALL' CAST IRON EXTERNAL OR INTERNAL light switches in NEW condition New - old stock in perfect working order they have a real crisp action! I found these in a store room in the boiler house (demolished) of British Mohair spinners (Part demolished) mill on canal road in Bradford. I have sold many of this type before - to Japan! but they are so scarce now I hardly come across them anymore. As for robust ! - I know where there are several still in service (outside in all weathers) 70 + years on! This one is galvanised cast iron so its pretty much indestructible. I have polished it up - but nothing else. I guarantee it 150 years! The Mill had slimmed its operations for Mohair spinning some time ago and had let out parts of the building to various small businesses. Then the building was sold to developers who of course wanted vacant possession. Existing tenants (who employed people in viable businesses) had to move. Several just closed because they couldn't afford to relocate. However when the property market crashed the developers were quick to abandon the project leaving the old mill abandoned, empty and increasingly vandalised.
