Made in Italy by INGAP, circa late 1940s. Not sure of which model car this is - kind of resembles a 1947 or 48 Pontiac or Chevy. All metal. The body is non-magnetic (lead or zinc), all the rest appears to be tin and / or nickel. Beautiful design and proportion. Great vintage look and patina. Looks great, with some scuffs and paint flakes consistent with age, use and storage. Takes a 3.5mm #5 key (not included). There are other condition issues: the right front wheel has broken off, but is included. The mechanism is complex and does not work - I tried winding both ways but there is too much resistance - didn't want to take a chance on further damage. There is a control switch in the rear window, but is not engaged. The front and rear bumpers are connected and geared underneath. When wound up and released, the car would go forward or back, depending on which bumper was extended. When it hit an obstacle, the bumper would retract and cause the car to continue in the opposite direction.7½ inches long, about 2 ½ inches high, 3 inches wide. Weighs one pound. Great addition to your antique wind up tin toy vehicle collection. Please do not send payment until after you receive an invoice.
