What a beautiful and fine example of Italian ceramics! This Spanish dancer is so large, so wonderful and so full of unbelievable movement! Just look at all the spectacular color, ruffles, golden-laced mantilla and the fine detailing on her gorgeous face! She even has lots of jewelry on, and is holding her castanets, keeing in rhythm with her moving skirt and body! This lady is very large--she measures 19 1/2 inches tall, 12 inches wide at the widest point, and 11 inches deep. She weighs about 10 1/2 pounds. As you can see, she is very substantial, and as I'm sure you can imagine, very heavy. Her condition is very good; t are two spots on her dress ruffles w it looks as though someone tried to repair what looks like minor chips(please see pictures), and she also has very small paint flakes and t on her dress and mantilla, but they are hardly noticeable, and with so much movement, do not at all take anything away from this spectacular lady! She is marked on the bottom, but I am not sure what maker this is. The mark consists of a crown, with a letter G (I think) under it. The word Italy also appears along with the crown mark, t is also "230 B" above the Italy mark. I believe this lady dates to the 1950's, but I can't be 100% sure of this.
