I am reluctantly selling, my vintage James adult tricycle. circa 1920(adult size 26 inch wheels)I believe I was very lucky to find such a clean, well looked after example of this James tricycle for my vintage bicycle collection. Nevertheless she has undergone a complete nut and bolt restoration. This tricycle is now in full working order and a real show stopper. Following many many hours carefully stripping this tricycle down to its many original components. All parts were then gently cleaned and serviced, every nut, bolt and bearing. including the rear axle and its twin free-wheel hub that must contain a hundred ball bearings of various sizes.The original paintwork has also been cleaned and prepared prior to three coats of clear satin lacquer being applied, preserving and (in my opinion) showing off this tricycle's life story within its original paint and metalwork.it is unfortunate that much of the chrome work had suffered from ageing and would simply flake off, not uncommon given its age.so is now silver. This build like many of my vintage bicycle collection has always been to restore and preserve what is there. Just stripping something down and sending it off to get new paint and new chrome or bolting new parts to it destroys its authenticity, everything on this tricycle has been lovingly restored and re fitted. the only new read more
