We were lucky enough to come across a box of very old hina matsuri doll heads. They were wrapped in newspaper from Showa year 8 (1934) but they were already used when they were wrapped and put away so they could be much older than that. These heads are also bigger than the heads we have sold before. Please check the measurements carefully. *****PLEASE NOTE: because these are so old...the hair is fragile/brittle and of course they are not perfect so please look at the pictures carefully. This is meant to be used to make dolls for Hina Matsuri or Japan's doll's festival. This would be perfect to make your own doll or to use in mixed media etc. This one measures 14 cm long including the stick and the head is about 1 2.5 cm around. The details are really amazing! The head is made from porcelain. About Hina Matsuri Platforms with a red hi-mōsen are used to display a set of ornamental dolls (雛人形, hina-ningyō?) representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period. The custom of displaying dolls began during the Heian period. Formerly, people believed the dolls possessed the power to contain bad spirits. He will be sent in a box for protection. ******SHIPPING INFORMATION****** Most packages are sent small package air mail via Japan post. This doesn't include tracking or insurance. Most read more
