Over 20 years ago I had the pleasure of traveling to Japan on business and I was able to acquire a small assortment of Vintage woodworking tools. Its now time to move these on to others who can appreciate and use them. The Japanese Master Blacksmiths were well known for their very finely crafted strong blades used in swords, and wood cutting tools such as planes, chisels and saws. These tools were proudly stamped on the blades by the Master Blacksmith, a symbol of their quality. All of these tools are in their original vintage condition. Here we have a Vintage Japanese Hira Kanna Hand Smooth (Jo-shiko) Plane, 65 mm Blade Edge, 10-3/4" Long. This is a mid-length smooth plane made of white oak and has a very thick heavy cutting blade and a chip breaker. The blade is 5/16" thick x 2-5/8" wide at the top edge. The blade cutting edge is tapered at the two edges to arrive at a 65 mm wide edge. The top plane surface by the toe is marked 65 mm. The edge should be sharpened up before use. The wood body is 10-3/4"L x 3-1/8" W. No cracks, breaks or repairs'Apologies' - none** Please remember to leave Feedback . I will gladly reciprocate. :-)'Regional Rate A'
