Logo Checkered Circle with Girl in Checkered Dress Jolly Joan. Slogan " The Jolliest Spot in Town".Blue on white ground.Back Marked Buffalo China. 1930's mark.Measures approximately 9 1/4" in diameter .No chips cracks or breaks. The plate is worn the top surface has lost most of its glaze from use and utensils. Some slight staining on rim.Jolly Joan sandwich shop (It's slogan: "The Jolliest Spot In Town") was reportedly the largest restaurant in the state, and in business from the 1930s through the 1960s. One of Portland Oregon's most popular restaurants.Despite the tremendous seating capacity of the original Jolly Joan (the largest eating place in Oregon), it has become impossible to provide enough seats for our growing number of patrons. To accomodate this overflow and because of the continued requests of our patrons that we should provide complete lunch and dinner service, the new Jolly Joan has moved across the street to 515 SW Broadway (formerly 127 Broadway).Festooned with a big neon sign, Jolly Joan featured a neon sign with the ever full steaming coffee cup.Jolly Joan was located Downtown on SW Broadway, near Washington.
