Vintage LIETZ Leitz SURVEYOR'S COMPASS Transit Survey
Sold For:
Lietz Co. - San Francisco
Transom Compass With Leather Case This precision surveying instrument appears to be in clean, very good condition. It is approximately 4" in diameter. It belonged to a friend's Grandfather who was a surveyor. This compass still works smoothly (and the thumb screw locks it in place when not in use), the bull's eye bubble leveler works, the hinged sights work smoothly, the fine wire sight line is intact and the face glass is intact and in very good condition. T are 360 degree markings. T is a declination screw on the side. T is a threaded hole on the bottom to secure it to a tripod (the brass threads are nice). I am no expert in this instrument, so this is being sold as is, as described and pictured. I believe this has been machined out of brass. I don't know what else to say except that this comes with a brown leather carrying case in worn condition, the closure snap has come loose into the mating snap, and the strap has broken.
