Vintage Linen Hand Embroidered Table Centre or Large Mat This delightful vintage piece has been very neatly hand embroidered with someone who has a flair for colour and is reminiscent of flower borders in an English country garden. It has an abundance of flowers at either end in an array of colours, each end having a different selection of colours and with embroidery detail to represent a garden wall. There are hollyhocks neatly worked in buttonhole stitch, an assortment of daisies in lazy daisy stitch and other garden flowers and grasses worked with both satin and stem stitch all worked on ivory linen. The hem has been turned under and hand stitched. Quite a challenge to get it neatly when stitching a circle. The edge has then been embroidered with orange thread. It would make a lovely focal point on a table with the light shining on it from a table lamp or with a pretty vase or ornament. Great for a shabby chic look! As usual Ihave taken many images so that the detail of this piece can be examinedcarefully. Please do so as they reflect the care, time & patience that has been spent on all this beautiful work. Measurements : 18.5" diameter The embroidery measures 7" at its highest point Condition: This is an old much loved piece which was badly stained and which I have restored and brought it back to life because I love the embroidery. read more
