Lot 2 SHEAFFER VINTAGE FOUNTAIN PENS Hard To Find Vintage Pens!! No Collection Would Be Complete Without These Pens!!! First is a Sheaffer's Sentinel "Thin Model" Snorkel in Green with Gold Trim and a White Dot on cap. C irca 1952. At 5 9/16" long, capped, but with a barrel diameter slightly under 7/16", this is a relatively long, slender pen. Thin Model or TM pen line, and with it a narrower, but longer looking nib. In 1952, Sheaffer introduced the Snorkel filling system, making the pen slightly longer, but without any real change to the nib design. In good condition except with circular scratches on the barrel end w cap was placed when in use. A snorkel filling system and a palladium silver rigid beautifully upswept medium/fine nib, fills and holds water. This pen is ready to provide many more years of excellent writing. Second is a Sheaffer "Touchdown" The Pneumatic Filler With White Dot on Cap. This pen has a 14K two tone nib with 14k gold filled trim on a glossy black body 5 1/4" long. The cap has a crack on side . Sheaffer introduced the Touchdown filling system in 1949. This was a unique filling system using pneumatic air pressure in the down stroke of the cylindrical plunger to compress the sac inside the cylinder and fill the pen. How It Works.
