we have to offer you a very collectible sterling silver ( rhodium-plated) and genuine blue Morpho butterfly wing brooch, made in England! It is a collectible for 2 good reasons, besides the fact that it is a beautiful piece of wearable art: it is made of butterfly wings, and this type of jewelry has been banned since the 1950's... and also it depicts a majestic cruise ship, the mighty Arcadia, which is no longer in service, having been scrapped in 1979. The brooch is made of sterling silver, and has an ornate twisted silver border adorning the rim. The portrait, if you will, of the Arcadia, is made of said butterfly wings, in brilliant, shimmering cobalt blue and azure! The ship is done in hues of white, orange rust and black, and its name is printed beneath. The Arcadia was built in 1954, by John Brown, of Clydebank, England. she operated on the UK-Australia passenger service route. In 1970, she became a full time one class cruise liner for P&O lines. She went out of service, and was scrapped, in Taiwan, in 1979. :( Remember this glorious ship as well as the good times had by all who sailed on her, by bidding on this beautiful brooch! It measures1" long and 7/8" in width. The clear protective dome gives it a depth of 3/16", which does not include the old 'c' clasp pin back. It weighs 3.5 grams, and is marked: 'made in England Sterling read more
