> DESCRIPTION: RARE Madame Alexander 16.5 inch Elsie A very RARE Madame Alexander Doll the 16.5 inch with Cissy face called Elsie made from 1957 to 1960 only. This is a fantastic doll and my all time favorite Madame Alexander Doll, Elsie. She is the very rare 16.5 inch Hard Plastic created from 1957 to 1960 ONLY using the Cissy Face Mold basically another doll in the Cissy Line that continued the line with jointed elbows when it they were removed from the later Cissy dolls. This First Issue Elsie is also the only one with Hard Plastic Head. The later and larger dolls were made with Vinyl heads. Another doll Made to compete with Miss Revlon and this one must have gave her a little competition with her huge wardrobe and jointed ankles allowing her to wear flats or high heel shoes. Elsie was continued in 17 and 18" sizes with Vinyl faces from 1961 to the last in 1982. She has beautiful crystal blue/green sleep eyes and long black real lashes. Her short Auburn Wigged hair is in an updo and she has pierced ears with pearl earrings. But the best thing about Elsie she is Fully-Jointed. Her head moves up and down as well as side to side. Her jointed shoulders,elbows, hips knees and ankles allow her to do all those great Ballerina poses that would send most dolls screaming to the doll hospital. Another thing I love about Elsie is her soft vinyl arms with fingers spread wide apart and very pliable feel then allowing her fingers to be interlocked in those graceful Ballerina moves we the other dolls can just envy. Marked Alexander on her neck and MME Alexander on her BackSince she has a body perfect for Ballerina Poses, I have her dressed in the tagged Nina Ballerina Tutu of off white satin with double layered Organdy Skirt with attached flowers and organza slip. Madame Alexander created Nina Ballerina from 1948 to 1951 so the outfit works perfectly for her time period. She has gauze boy short type panties, white ribbed tights and faux leather ankle strap shoes because I lost one of the Ballerina slippers that I am still hunting down and will include if I find the pair. Her updo hair is surrounded by off white felt flower head band and ribbon bow. Elsie is a Beautiful Doll but she does have a few problems. NONE effect her looks or poses. She has a 1 inch crack on one side of her head also has the top of her index finger and middle finger smashed. Also the same arm seems to have the joint at elbow fused together or possibly glued by the previous owner. I haven't tried pulling it apart as it works fine and looks good so I didn't want to cause further damage. Also her wig is thin mainly on the left side but with the updo style she wears its not very visible. I just had to add a few Barbie Bobbie Pins to hold her hair in place. Her outfit is missing one shoulder flower and the attached slip is badly torn. But even with her little problems, she is still a very rare, beautiful doll and still capable of out posing most dolls in your display, and putting similar sized Miss Revlons to shame.
