This is an old steel credit card imprinter that came out of an old former Gulf station that is now a body shop. The owner gave it to me recently when I had some body work done on my car and saw it in the corner, dusty and dirty. I expressed an interest, told him I was a Gulf collector and he gave it to me. He had no use for it and it was t in the same spot as it was when he bought the building 15 years ago. Since I already have one in my collection, I am putting this one up for auction with a couple of extra items of my own that I have duplicates of. First we have the imprinter. It is an old one, stamped Gulf on the bottom but it can be used by any petroliana collector to complete that service station display in the shop or garage. This was made by Addressograph Multigraph Corp., Cleveland, Ohio in 1968. That is the latest patent date on the bottom. It is a Model 12-55, also on the bottom but since the latest of the 10 patent dates is 1968 I am going to assume the year of manufacture was 1968. The imprinter date wheels which a dealer would manually change every day when he opened for business, only have a date range between 1/1/1960 to 12/31/1979. The machine date can not be set prior to 1/1/60 nor can it be set after 12/31/1979 because the date wheels do not have any other digits. So although the body shop owner had it in the corner read more
