Offered is a vintage (C. 1945 ?) bakelite bangle bracelet. The bangle material tested positive for bakelite with the Simichrome test. The marbleized bakelite is a warm, deep, brown color, with golden, creamy, swirls throughout. (See Photos) This is a spring hinged bangle, with the opening at the front, across from the hinge. (See Photos) From the top view, the bangle is more narrow at the back hinge and gradually gets wider towards the front. It measures approximately 7/8" wide all around, and approximately 1/4 thick, at the back, and approximately 1/2" thick at the front. (See Photos) It has an oval shape that measures approximately 2 3/8" x 1 3/4", and an interior circumference of approximately 6 1/2", which is a bit smaller than a standard bracelet wrist size. The surface of the bangle is smooth. The condition is very good with only light surface wear normal for a vintage piece. The spring clamp is metal that is still tight and works well, with original rivets and spring. There is some wear to the gold tone metal, of the hinge, which can not be seen when the bangle is worn. This is a striking vintage bakelite bangle with versatility,clean, classic, lines and a lot of eye appeal. The buyer pays a fixed cost of 2.50 for USPS postage and handling.
