For your consideration I am offering this item that was produced this fine stoneware by Marzi & Remy.. Mainly known for their beer steins I have seen this later product called a biscuit jar and also a tobacco humidor. My personal opinion for what it means I will stick with the biscuit jar as reference. This company was first started in in 1879 in the area then known as Hohr, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia mainly making beer steins. It bears the mark on the bottom which according to records was first used in 1879 and lasted until 1964. I am not sure when this jar was made but evidently some time after 1879 and before 1964 when they first expanded to other products besides steins. This stoneware jar is in excellent condition including all the gold trim which usually is the first to go. It measures 5" across by 7" tall with lid included.
