If you like lapis, or know someone who does, then look at this great necklace. Fifty-nine delicate round lapis cabuchons, most flecked with gold, form a marvelous 17 inch necklace. Marked 950 silver, this necklace was sold to me as Mexican but I honestly think it may be Chilean. First, the necklace is not marked Mexico; second, the lapis is stunning-like all Chilean lapis; third, the clasp is a tongue in box WITH a safety (see photos)-a style of clasp that I have seen on many Chilean pieces. This necklace has no mark of country of origin, but it was clearly made by a master. Each piece of lapis is firmly encased in 950 silver. The weight is substantial enough to know that the necklace is on, but not enough to irritate. The stones are remarkable-gold flecks catch the light and shine.
