Information about the Shure Model 51This microphone was purchased by me off ebay a year ago when I went through a period where I was interested in microphones from the crooners of old. This microphone was one of the classic microphones the model of which was used by the likes of Nat King Cole and Elvis. The microphone itself is in decent condition, but has some wear. The aluminum is a little pitted and has some residue on it that could probably be cleaned by somebody looking to restore it. The screening material behind the aluminum screen is deteriorated and needs to be replaced. I am not sure if this is functional. I do not have a PA system that takes this sort of input. The seller told me that it was the property of their dad who was an old blues player in New Orleans and that when he died they found it in his closet. They claimed that it worked. But, I would be skeptical. This is a piece of history and would make a great prop with a little cleanup. If you are lucky, it may work and possibly with some cleanup reproduce that classic sound that many of the great singers are associated with. It may not.There is a little bit of risk associated with this. No returns. Product AS-IS.
