Here we have a pair of very rare vintage tube microphone preamplifiers type SMV II ma de in Stuttgart-Mittnachtbau / Germany by CARL STRÄSSER back in February 1969 , serial numbers 759 # 01/02 . These professional high-gain microphone preamplifiers were part of a big public adress system and come from a church in Germany. The size of the steel frame chassis is 9.5"(24cm) by 4.5"(11cm) by 2.75"(7cm) . Each amplifier includes a complete power supply, two Telefunken <> EF86 / 6CF8 tubes and Sennheiser input- / output transformers. All electrical connections are wired to a 12-pin male connector. The chassis slide into steel mounting frames with matching female connector so the units can be installed in a rack / cabinet or used stand alone. Both input and outputs are symmetrically balanced with impedances of 200 ohms. The amps are perfectly suited for low impedance dynamic moving coil or ribbon microphones. The maximum gain is 400 or +52dB . The front end has a volume level control for the output signal, a pilot lamp and a hum balance.
