This Listing Is For A Set Of Fireplace Andirons From 1951Black Cast Iron Vases & Black UrnsVery Popular Style In The Post War Era Through The Early 1960'sSHIPPING IS BY FAST PRIORITY MAIL WITH INSURANCE This hearth ware is from a respected antique store in the Detroit area which closed some time ago.The inventory tag said they were from 'Boston-Edison1951'. (Boston Edison is a neighborhood in Detroit with really cool mansions.) (I've found some old catalog listings with similar looking fire dogs from the mid 1940's to late 50's)They are fully functional & well used andirons. These are not purely decorative as are many black & brass andirons from the era. Speaking of Decorative- While researching these, I saw a decorator magazine showing similar andirons with the log arms removed & hung on a wall as primitive decor. Creative!Starting at the top, the finials are solid brass turnings. The urns are hollow brass sheet stock.The vases are heavy cast iron and the legs are probably stamped steel or thin sheet iron. They are not heavy.The log carriers (or sprues or shanks) are iron & are heavy.The log shanks can be angled for shallower depth fireplace hearths.Every part stacks on a threaded rod and the finials screw on to hold it all together.
