Double your traffic. Sally's Cellar is thrilled to offer up for bid a fabulous Millinery Wooden Hat Mold ... and it is signed by notating where it was made/used. This mold is set upon a stand and the connection is solid. There is some sign of wear in the connection from age! I know that many molds are made of Balsa wood and this one probably is .... but it does weigh in at 3 lbs. and 3 oz. which might indicate an additional wood was used as well. The fun part of this mold to me is the engraved words. The back ... literally says "Back". The front has the numbers 6048 (not sure what this indicates but probably inventory or type) and the number 22 which is most likely the size as it matched our measurements all the way around the mold. Another neat engraved part is where it was made/used. With time many of the letters have brushed away from use but what I can see states "Card....Hat..... y" and noted the place is "NY". Perhaps after your purchase, you will have better luck reading the letters:)The top of the mold does have one flaw in the wood.... it is just the finish. When I 'rescued' this amazing item from a sale it had scotch tape across the top with the price.... which must have been there for a while causing the flaw. It would be easily remedied with a wood wax or other product that you like if you choose to refinish the top. read more
