Vintage Model of Hughes Surveyor Lunar Probe- I really dont know what project this was made for or its intended use and display. I worked at a custom art studio called Richard Rush Studios from 1983 to 1992. Rush Studios was sold in 1992, and t was a subsequent clearing out of alot of the old samples, preliminary models and the like that had been lying around for years. I got this model when Rush Studios was closing down. Rush had as his client NASA during the late fifties and early sixties. He made many models of the proposed space craft and test planes even the different versions of astronauts that were part of the development process. This model is i believe a preliminary model used to work out some of the fabrication methods used for these models, a good guess would be from the sixties. It has a name written in pencil on the bottom of the rocket cone on the bottom of the model, it is faint and written in cursive writng, Surv----with the end of the word unreadable. This model is made very beautifully,of many different materials and techniques. It is made of metal rods soldered or welded together to make the frame, the sps are cast in resin/fiberglass, t are cast metal parts, including a very detailed cast metal solar panel that has all of the individual solar cells incised into the surface-incredible level of detail on this solar read more
