This very decorative oil on canvas dates from the 1950s or 60s and is signed lillegibly lower right as well as stamped “Made in Holland” on the back. It measures 23 x 31” in its period painted wood frame; 20 x 28” actual and depicts figures in a mid 20th century European urban setting complete with colorful period wear and vintage auto. The paint is applied with vigor and the figures rendered almost gesturally with the primary colors of costume and signage sparking up the duller palette of surrounding architecture.
